Greetings to Former Scouts, Parents, and Friends of Scouting,

It is with great sadness we were informed that former Scoutmaster Ron Lee passed away.  Here is a brief background of Ron Lee from the family:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of the longest serving Scouts of Troop Three, Ronald F. Lee on August 26, 2024.

Ron was a scout in Troop Three from 1945 to 1950.  He obtained the rank of Star Scout and served as Troop Scribe.  Ron returned to the Troop in 1963 as Scoutmaster and served until 1984.  When the need arose, Ron again returned to the Troop as Scoutmaster from 1993 until 2007.  In Troop Three’s 110 year history, Ron has been active in the Troop for nearly 40 years. Under his leadership, 31 scouts achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.  As a leader, Ron earned the Scoutmaster’s Key for scoutmaster training and the Wood Badge Beads for advance leadership training. Ron has also received the Silver Beaver Award for outstanding service to Scouting at the Council level and the District Award of Merit for outstanding service at the District level.

Ron was born in Chinatown on February 10, 1933 to Richard Lee and Mary Marks.  He attended Commodore Stockton Elementary School, Francisco Junior High School, and Lowell High School. He attended college briefly, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy.  Ron was very proud of his Naval career.  He served on active duty and in the naval reserves for 42 years until his mandatory retirement at age 60.  He was a Navy Corpsman and achieved the rank of Master Chief, the highest rank held by an enlisted man.  In his civilian life, Ron worked as an engineer for the City and County of San Francisco before retiring from the San Francisco Municipal Railway Agency.

Ron leaves behind his daughters Michele (Jones) and Monica (Curtis); daughter-in-law, Jenny; grandchildren, Kurtis, Genevieve, Melanie, Jacquelyn (Steven), Justin, and Caitlyn; great grandchildren, Joshua, Abigail, Samson, and Zoey; siblings Guyler (Shirley) and Janet (Richard).  He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley and his son, Rodney.

A campership fund has been established in honor of Ron Lee in recognition and memory of his devotion to furthering Troop 3's Scouting program as scoutmaster, and his focus on building youth character and Scout Spirit especially through outdoor summer camping experiences.

Your donation will help build a campership fund in memory of our late Scoutmaster Ronald F Lee which will be used to aid Troop 3 scouts in need of financial support to attend summer camp.
